Tree Plantation Photo Contest was organised by Northeast FoodBanking Network (NeFN) to encourage children and youth to participate in protecting the environment. A cash prize and certificates of appreciation were awarded to the three winners and one youngest participates on World Environment Day 2016. Pastor Kamminthang, from Manipur Evangelical Lutheran Church (MELC) also encouraged the participants and the organizer on this event. 24th June, 2016:
Team NeFN distributed 50kg of Rice and one bag of potatoes to a person with special needs and cares. Each of them were given 5kg of Rice and 2kg of potoatoes. We had a short interaction programs and our Founder & Director Mr. Khamlianlal encourgaed the disabled persons. Mr. Sianmuanthang, President Churachandpur District Disabled Union 9CDDU) and Mr. Mang, student social worker,MSW Ponducheery also grace this short discussion and had tea with the disabled people at the office in Hmar veng. 28th May, 2016:
Celebrated World Hunger Day 2016- First time in Northeast India: 4 orphanages home in Churachandpur viz; Vondei Saulim, Tunnu Limbel, Sangamon & ABC Ministries we given 15 Kg of rice and 3 Kg of potatoes. We also invited 9 families from Zoumunnuam village, who were affected by flood. we handed 5 kg of rice and 1 kg of potatoes to them. On this unprecedented events we selected 2 widows from P. Kamdouveng and B.Phaicham village and handed 2/3 days food to eat. Northeast FoodBanking Network provided food to the flood victims at Moirang, Bishnupur, Mnaipur. The team prepared food for 10 households to manage at-least 2/3 days to food eat. However, due to a huge affected houses, we handed the food to the local philanthropy organisation leader. We also helps the victims families by shifting the furniture to a safe place. "Food For All" This is the first activity of Northeast FoodBanking Network. We responses disaster victims by provide food material for 7 days to eat. Two houses in Bunglawm Village, Henglep Sub-division (3 KM from Moirang), Manipur, was totally damaged by a heavy storm on 13th May 2016. Two houses were totally damage by a heavy wind. The Northeast FoodBanking Network take up action within 24 hours to make sure the victims will not suffer hunger! At present, the Northeast FoodBanking Network is working on a “Project Emergency Food Relief” extracted from the first objective of the organization “To fight against hunger, achieved food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture in the region”. This project will response or take up action to any disaster in the near.

There are 16 households in the this tiny village. Most of the houses are made of thatched and bamboos. Jhuming cultivation is the life source of income for the villagers. No proper drinking water in the village, children have to walk more-than 5km for a quality education. "We are scared to face July,August & September as this three months are the season where we are in shortage of food every years" said the aged women. "Now, we are happy for this Northeast FoodBanking Network initiative and we have a big hope to fill our empty stomach and I support Northeast FoodBanking Network " said the villagers. |
